F.A.Q.

Before you contact support, use the keyword tester tool to figure out why a particular SMS was filtered (or not).

How to access the keyword tester tool?

1. Open Verosms > tap on top right icon (beaker icon).
2. Paste the SMS and manually append the sender name toward the end.

SMS is not sent to spam.

Possible Reason 1:
VeroSMS filter is not enabled. Follow these steps to enable the filter:

1. Open Settings.app
2. Messages > Unknown & Spam.
3. Tick VeroSMS.

Don't worry about the warning, VeroSMS does not send any SMS outside your device.

(Note that if you are using any Beta release of VeroSMS via Testflight, the app will send SMSs to my personal server to improve machine learning algorithm. However this data will only be used to train the algorithm and will never ever be sold or misused.)

Possible Reason 2:
Use the keyword tester tool to know why the SMS wasn't filtered. Most common reason is a whitelisted keyword you set prevented it from filtering.

Possible Reason 3:
The SMS if from someone in your contacts list. VeroSMS is only able to filter texts from people not in your contact list.

How to use the SMS Spam reporting?
SMS Spam reporting is only available for Indian users. Make sure your device region is set to India and is on iOS 12.1 or above.

Follow the steps here: https://verosms.com/reportspam.

How to move sms from junk to normal section?
It is not possible to move SMS from Junk to Normal as Apple has not provided us with any API to offer that functionality.

The only workaround is to delete the entire thread of that particular sender and any future texts should get filtered correctly.

Known Issues

SMS goes to spam even if keyword tester shows it's not spam.

There is currently a bug in iOS in which if an SMS by a particular sender was previously marked as spam, any future messages get sent to spam automatically. I have already reported this to Apple but so far I haven't heard back from them.

Most likely an SMS from this sender was earlier correctly sent to spam but since iOS completely ignores my app the second time an SMS from the same sender comes in, it gets sent directly to spam.

To prevent this, you will have to delete the entire thread of that sender and any future messages will get filtered correctly.

Bug report that I have filed with Apple:

IdentityLookup API sends a valid non-spam text to "SMS Junk" if any SMS from the same sender was previously (correctly) filtered.
